Bath Student Accommodation Guide (2026)
Bath is gorgeous. It's also surprisingly affordable compared to other southern cities.
I've analyzed 17 properties to find your best options.
The Numbers
- Cheapest: £134/week (great value!)
- Average: £264/week
- Most expensive: £385/week
✓ Good News
Bath has more budget options than Oxford or Cambridge. The £134-180/week range has several decent properties.
Best Value Options
1. Student Castle Bath (from £134/week)
The cheapest I found. Modern PBSA near the city centre. About 20 min walk to University of Bath campus.
2. Radway House (from £145/week)
Good for Bath Spa University students. Quiet area.
3. Centurion House (from £155/week)
Central location, 20 min walk to main campus.
The Hill Problem
Here's what nobody tells you about Bath: University of Bath is on a hill.
The campus is up at Claverton Down, which means:
- City centre properties = 40-50 min walk uphill
- Bus is essential (or very good legs)
- Some properties are on campus (more expensive but convenient)
My advice: Check the actual walking route, not just the distance. Google Maps will show elevation.
Areas Breakdown
City Centre (near Abbey)
- Beautiful, social, convenient for shops
- Far from Uni of Bath campus
- Better for Bath Spa students
Oldfield Park
- Traditional student area
- Mix of houses and flats
- 15-20 min bus to either uni
Claverton Down
- Near Uni of Bath campus
- Limited options but shortest commute
- Less social scene

Transport Costs
Factor in the U1/U2 bus if you're living in the city:
- Weekly pass: ~£16.50
- Semester pass: Better value if you commit
This adds to your "true cost" - a £150/week flat + £16 bus pass = £166/week effective rent.
